Chief of Police: Rodney Demery
Rodney L. Demery is a distinguished law enforcement professional and media personality,
currently serving as the Chief of Police at Grambling State University. With a bachelor's
degree in criminal justice from Louisiana State University, Demery’s law enforcement
experience spans across various areas, including S.W.A.T., undercover operations,
and military police. He is a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in Operations Desert
Shield and Desert Storm. Demery is also a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity
Inc.
He is also the host of "Murder Chose Me" on Investigation Discovery and “Unearthed:
Ancient Murder Mysteries” by Curiosity and Off the Fence, and owns Demery Enterprises,
providing personal security to NBA stars. In “Unearthed,” he collaborates with Professor
Turi King to investigate historical murders using modern forensic techniques.
Demery is a retired Shreveport, LA homicide detective and credits his career and willingness
to serve to his mother’s murder when he was three years old. Due to his commitment
and work ethic, he spent 14 years solving violent crimes with a remarkable confession
and solve rate.
Demery is also an accomplished author. His books "Things My Daughters Need to Know"
and "No Place for Race" have received significant acclaim. As a father, he considers
it his most fulfilling role, underscoring the importance of paternal influence in
children's lives.
