Upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11 will bring a fresh and modern experience to your screen. Overall, the upgrade aims to provide a more efficient and visually appealing environment.

New Features:

  • Snap Layouts will enhance multitasking by allowing users to easily organize open windows
  • Improved performance and security, ensuring a smoother and safer computing experience
  • Integrated Microsoft Teams for seamless communication and collaboration

Windows 11 Upgrade Process

You will have the option to self-install or wait until your department's group upgrade for an automatic install.

Self-Install the Windows 11 Upgrade

A self-install update will be available starting on Month Day, 2024, through Information Technology Center.

The upgrade requires an on-campus network connection and takes approximately 40 minutes to complete. We suggest performing the upgrade during lunch hour or about an hour before you leave for the day.

Self-Install Instructions

Automatic Upgrades

If you choose not to self-install, the Windows 11 update will be automatically applied during the month of month 2025.

Upgrades will be rolled out each week on Mondays to groups of departments.

Your department will be notified via email one week before your upgrade occurs.

Checklist: Before and After the Upgrade

Save any important work prior to your upgrade

After the install, you may need to re-login to Office applications such as Outlook, Teams, OneDrive

No applications are being removed during the upgrade process

The upgrade process does not wipe the computer, it is an in-place upgrade

Departments with specialized software or configurations will be upgraded on an individual basis
