About the Contest

Grambling State University is proud to announce the official World Famed Tiger Marching Band Specialty License Plate Design Contest. This is your opportunity to help design a historic plate that celebrates the pride, heritage, and excellence of the World Famed Tiger Marching Band.

Overview
  • Open To: Students, alumni, and supporters of Grambling State University and the World Famed Tiger Marching Band
  • Entry Limit: Up to three (3) designs per person
  • Prize: $1,000 (funded by Rep. Steven Jackson, LA-02)
  • Recognition: Public recognition across the World Famed Tiger Marching Band social channels, Grambling State University platforms, and the office of Rep. Steven Jackson
Design Requirements
  • Must include the exact wording: “Grambling State University World Famed Tiger Marching Band.”
  • Must comply with Louisiana OMV specialty plate standards under R.S. 47:463(A)(3)
  • Must leave space for plate numbering
Submission Guidelines
  • File Types: Vector files (AI, EPS, SVG) plus PNG/JPG mockup
  • Deadline: Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 11:59 PM

  • Limit: Three submissions per entrant
Contest Timeline
  • Monday, October 6, 2025 – Contest officially launches
  • Sunday, October 26, 2025 (11:59 PM) – Contest closes (three-week entry window)

After the submission period closes, all entries will be reviewed by a judging panel. The winning design will be selected, finalized with the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles, and then announced publicly in late November 2025.

 

Winner Notification

The winner will be contacted directly by the office of Dr. Nikole Roebuck prior to the public reveal.

 

Waiver & Consent

By submitting a design, entrants agree that:

  • Their submission is their original work and does not infringe on third-party rights.
  • All submitted designs become the property of Grambling State University, the World Famed Tiger Marching Band, and the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles.
  • GSU and OMV reserve the right to modify the winning design for compliance and production needs.
  • The winning design may be used in official license plates, promotions, and campaigns without additional compensation beyond the stated prize.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who can enter?
A: Students, alumni, and supporters of Grambling State University. Entrants must be 18 years or older. Minors may enter with a parent/guardian co-signature.

Q: How many designs can I submit?
A: Up to three (3) entries per person.

Q: Do I need to be a professional designer?
A: No. Creativity, pride, and clarity are what matter most.

Q: Will I retain ownership of my design if it is not selected?
A: Yes. Non-winning entries remain the property of the entrants, though GSU reserves the right to keep digital copies for archival purposes.

Q: How will the winner be recognized?
A: The winner will be recognized publicly through World Famed Tiger Marching Band social channels, Grambling State University platforms, and the office of Rep. Steven Jackson.

Q: What happens after the design is selected?
A: The winning design will undergo final review with OMV and then be used in the official launch of the specialty license plate campaign, which requires 1,000 pre-sale applications.
