Dr. Jacqueline Garrison is the Associate Dean of the School of Social Work and an Assistant Professor. She holds a BSW degree and MSW degree from Grambling State University. She has a Doctor of Social Work from Capella University. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of Louisiana.
Dr. Garrison has been employed with GSU, School of Social Work for 20 years and has been a valuable and integral part in advancing the School of Social Work. She was named the Associate Dean of the School of Social Work in July 2019. As the Associate Dean, Dr. Garrison has provided leadership in acquiring reaffirmation of accreditation for the both the BSW and MSW program. Additionally, The Board of Regents approved the new undergraduate certificate program in advanced supervision, that is offered 100% online through the School of Social Work.
Prior to being named the Associate Dean, Dr. Garrison served as the Title IV-E Child Welfare Director. She was responsible for writing and coordinating the Title IV-E Child Welfare Grant. She was an integral part in recruiting and training students, both at the undergraduate and graduate level, to work in the field of Child Welfare in Louisiana.
Dr. Garrison is committed and loyal to Grambling State University’s institutional history, to the social work profession, and to the preparation of individuals for professional social work practice. It is her goal to continue and strengthen the legacy of academic excellence that was established before her.
