
Professor Susan Billups Wiley is a dedicated educator and marketing professional with a rich background in higher education, corporate America, and entrepreneurship. She holds an MBA in Marketing from Louisiana Tech University and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Grambling State University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. With certifications in customer service, online course design, and insurance, Professor Wiley brings a unique blend of academic and industry expertise to her role as a Lecturer at Grambling State University’s College of Business. Her career spans leadership in student retention, academic advising, and professional development, including her tenure as Interim Director of Retention at GSU, where she significantly improved freshman retention rates.
Professor Wiley teaches courses in Fundamentals of Business, Business Communication, Services Marketing, and Consumer Behavior, emphasizing practical skills and career readiness. She integrates real-world insights from her corporate experience at State Farm Insurance and ITT Hartford into her pedagogy. As Coordinator of the College of Business Professional Development Center, she bridges classroom learning with internship and job opportunities, preparing students for success in the workforce. Her innovative advising tools and workshops on customer service and academic planning reflect her commitment to student growth.
Her research focuses on financial literacy among African American students, career development strategies, and the evolution of services marketing. She co-authored a peer-reviewed article on financial literacy and has presented at conferences such as the International Academy of Business and Public Administration Disciplines (IABPAD). Professor Wiley is deeply engaged in institutional and community service. At GSU, she chairs the Academic Advising Manual Committee, serves on the Strategic Planning Committee, and acts as liaison for the GSU/Arizona State University Real Estate Partnership. Her leadership extends to the Greater Grambling Chamber of Commerce and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., where she was recognized for her community contributions.
