Instructor/Engineer
Dr. Zhiyong Jia, joined Grambling State University in the 2017 fall semester. Dr. Jia received Ph.D. in Physics from University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, AL. Dr. Jia served as a Research Scientist for six years at University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Prior to joining Grambling, he was in R&D at Carbo Ceramics developing new generation of proppants.
He has studied the properties of magnetic materials including nanoparticles and thin film and had done research on the mechanical properties of materials including stainless steel, ceramics, carbon nanotube, graphene, and the polymer-CNT nanocomposites. He has done extensive research on the relations between microstructure, properties, and preparations using advanced electron microscopy. Dr. Jia has more than 40 research publications in refereed journals in physics and materials science. He has served as reviewer for many journals including Journal of Applied Physics, Applied Physics Letters, Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, IEEE Trans. on Magnetics, Journal of Materials Chemistry, Chemical Society Reviews, Journal of Nanoparticles, and others.
His research interests are in the functionalization of nanomaterials and the microstructure-processing-properties relationship in the general field of materials science.
