Fall 2021 Return to Campus Information

From this landing page, campus and community members can access the most current information on the University’s prevention and response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Grambling State University is committed to protecting our campus and community from the spread of novel coronavirus.

Overview

The University continues to closely monitor the spread of COVID-19, also known as novel coronavirus, as additional cases are confirmed in the United States and abroad. The World Health Organization has declared novel coronavirus a pandemic, with over 1,200 cases in the US and growing clusters of the disease forcing many colleges and universities to adjust operations.

On Wednesday, March 11, the White House announced a travel restriction from Europe, not including the UK, to the U.S. for 30 days, effective Friday, March 13, 2020. On the same day, Gov. John Bel Edwards declared a Public Health emergency in Louisiana related to COVID-19. With increasing numbers of confirmed cases of infected persons throughout the state of Louisiana, Grambling State University is urgently addressing the pandemic with preventative measures to contain the spread of novel coronavirus to campus and community.

Grambling State University has suspended all classes for the week of March 16-20; classes will resume 100% online on March 23, 2020.

In effort to reduce the density of the campus population in accordance with CDC recommendations, students are directed to arrange relocation out of university-provided housing and transition themselves and their belongings no later than March 23, 2020.

In accordance with CDC Health recommendation to cancel large gatherings, all campus events, including convocation, TigerFest events, and Spring commencement, have been cancelled. Graduating seniors will receive their degree certificates at their permanent address as it is listed in BannerWeb

Due to the constant changes in this developing situation, more adjustments to campus procedures are possible. Please check your campus email, refer to this webpage, and follow our social media handles for the latest Grambling State updates as we continue to monitor and follow developing recommendations from national and state medical leaders.
