Students that apply prior to January 31, 2022 are automatically considered for academic scholarships.

  • GAP Fund Application (click to apply)
    • Student must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA
    • Student must exhaust ALL federal financial aid options before being considered for GAP funds. (Subsidized Loans, Unsubsidized Loans, Plus Loans,
    • Student may not receive a refund from GAP funds.
    • If a student is awarded GAP funds and then receives additional funding from a different source after the GAP funds are posted, the GAP funds may be canceled if the additional award creates a credit balance (refund)
    • The maximum GAP award will be $800 (based on availability of funds)
  • BeyGOOD Foundation Renaissance Scholarship (click to apply)
    • BIPOC student that is a candidate for a degree at the University;
    • Academic achievement, at least a 3.0 GPA or statement from an academic staff or advisor if lower that supports the student's capability and capacity for greater but a life issue has grades temporarily lower; 
    • Financial need; 
    • A personal reference letter, either Academic or from their Community; and e. A demonstrated commitment to service to the community or public shared via a personal essay.

      •The award is open to undergraduate students of any major who are incoming or current members of the Grambling State University Tiger Marching Band.
      • The Student has been admitted to or currently enrolled full-time at Grambling State University
      • The student is a legacy ie., daughter or son, of a former member of the Grambling State University Tiger Marching Band
      • The living parent of the student is an active member of the 100 Horses Alumni Band
      • The deceased parent of the student was an active member of the 100 Horses Alumni Band
      • The incoming student possess a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or the current Grambling State University student possess a cumulative GPA of 2.5
      • The student must be enrolled at Grambling State University and in good academic and personal standing with the University.
      Fall 1 Award of $500 each to 1 students.

      Annually - Spring 5 Award of $500 each to 5 students.

      • Funds must be used for tuition, books, on campus room and board, and other on-campus degree related expenses.

      • Must have pursued all federal funding options.

      Fall and Spring 1 An award of $500 will be given to (1) student annually each fall semester

      • Open to undergraduate students
      • Socio-economic status must be evidenced with low income status
      • Preferably resident of LA, TX, MS, AL
      • Must submit an essay explaining “How the arts have positively influenced my life.”
      • Submit a portfolio of work in visual art
      • GPA of 2.5 or higher on 4.0 scale
      Fall and Spring 1 Award of $500 to 1 student. $250 each semester

      Fall and Spring 2 An award of $1,000.00 will be given to two (2) students annually for three consecutive years. The gift will be divided evenly between fall & spring semesters.

      • Biology major with a premed concentration with an intention to apply to medical school to help with their MCAT costs and test prep;
      • Priority will be given to residents of DeSoto Parish with a second priority given next to students in St.Landry Parish
      • Candidates must be a Junior
      • Candidates must have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 grading scale
      • Candidates demonstrates a real financial need
      • Write a 500-word essay sharing their academic goals for a career in medicine
      Fall and Spring 10 Award of $1,000 each for (10) students

      • Must be majoring in Cloud Computing
      • Sophomore, Junior or Senior
      Fall and Spring 9 Award of $2,000 to 9 students each

      • Must be a student at one of the participating Bernetta Ambres touring schools;
      • Must be a second semester freshmen;
      • Must have a cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 grading scale;
      • Should have a financial need.
      • The scholarship is renewable.
      Annually - Fall and Spring 2 (2) $1,000 awards

      • Must demonstrate a financial need.
      • The award can be applied to tuition, room/board, meal plan or books/computer supplies;
      • Must have at least a cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 grading scale;
      • Should have performed community service within the last 3-year period;
      • Will be a one-time only awardee (not eligible for second reward).

      • Achievement of at least 2.3 high school grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
      • Recipient must be a first semester freshmen.
      • Recipient must be enrolled full time and in good standing.
      • Recipient must be a resident of Morehouse or Natchitoches Parish.
      • Recipient can be from Houston, Dallas, San Antonio or Gatesville, TX or from Pomona, CA or surrounding areas.
      • Recipient resided in a single parent household
      • Recipient maybe an ex-offender/drug addict.
      • Recipient must have a desire to have a better quality of life as demonstrated through an essay.
      • These monies are intended for students who meet at least three of the criteria.
      Annually - Fall and Spring 2 Award of $2,000 each to 2 students.

      • Resident of Natchitoches, Red River, or Caddo Parish
      • Hold cumulative high school GPA of 3.0

      • Pursuing Major in Education
      • Socio-economic status must be evidenced, with a low to middle income status receiving priority
      • Involved in Extra-Curricular Activities/ and performed community service
        Provide answers to the following questions:
      • Which high school, church, or community activity has given you the most satisfaction and why?
      • We know you are a talented student, what motivates you to be a good learner and to put forth your best effort?
      • What advice would you give middle students about achieving success?
      • Why are you interested in Education as a career?
      • What one class, teacher, book, or experience has changed the way you think? How?
      • If you were the mayor of your hometown, what changes would you make? Why?
      • What have you learned from someone who is very different from you?
      • What do you consider the most urgent problem in the world today?
      • Aside from a college degree, what do you hope to gain from your college experience?
      • If you were to ask your friends to describe you, what would they say?
      • Imagine yourself 10 years from today, what goals and ambitions do you have for yourself, personally and professionally?

      Fall and Spring 1 Award of $1,000 to 1 student.

      • Award open to undergraduate students
      • Priority will be given to residents of Tangipahoa, St. Helena, Livingston, St. Tammany, and Washington parishes
      • Enrolled full-time at Grambling State University and in good standing
      • All academic area with priority to education majors
      • Freshman or beyond
      • GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale in their high school or major
      • Priority given to recipients with low to middle income status
      • Recipients must provide evidence of leadership skill, and/or community service experience
      • Awards will be given to one or more student(s) in any given year, based on level of donations.
      Fall 2 Award of $500 to 2 student.
    • Scholarship Criteria Award Term Number of Awards Amount of Award
      • Must be enrolled full-time at Grambling State University
      • Eligible candidate must be U.S. citizens in their senior year
      • One (1) female student in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems
      • One (1) student that is a member of the band (male or female)
      • GPA of 2.5 and who is making satisfactory progress toward graduation
      • Must have a financial need as determined by the program administrator
      • Must be students, without financial intervention, would be unable to graduate from Grambling State University
      • First preference will be given to seniors who have met all criteria for graduation and who are in their final semester of matriculation, followed by first semester seniors.
      • Funds to a recipient is not automatically renewable and awards shall be evaluated and determined on an annual basis
      • Grambling State University Vice President of Advancement will serve as program administrator for the scholarship and will select recipients based on the criteria 
      Fall and Spring 1 Award of $5,000 each to 1 student

      • Enrolled full-time at Grambling State University and in good standing
      • Student in financial need
      • Teacher Education Major
      • Sophomore, junior or senior
      • GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 grading scale.
      Fall and Spring 2 An award of $1,000 will be presented to five (2) students annually.
    • Scholarship Criteria Award Term Number of Awards Amount of Award
      • Enrolled full-time at Grambling State University and a student in good standing;
      • Graduating senior; (c)
      • Resident from the Greater New Orleans area which will consist of the following parishes: Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, Plaqueminés and St.Charles (Orleans and Jefferson Parishes will take priority)
      • Student must have a scholastic financial need and scholarship may be added to their financial aid package if necessary; and
      • Maintain a 2.6 or higher on a 4.0 grading scale;
      • Recipient will be required to attend at least one Crescent City Chapter event during the year scholarship is received.
      Annually - Fall  2 (2) $2,000 awards

      • First priority will be given to residents of St. Landry Parish
      • Second priority will be given to residents of Evangeline Parish

      • Cumulative high school GPA of 2.7 or higher
      • Must be PELL Grant eligible
      • Qualified recipients who will be first-generation college students within their immediate family shall be given priority
      • Write a 500 word essay answering the questions,
      • What are you passionate about?
      • How will you use GSU to turn your passion into a career?
      Fall and Spring 2 Award of $2,500 each to 2 students.

      • Sophomore or junior
      • 2.7 or higher GPA on a 4.0 grading scale
      • Education major
      • Member of an Education-related club
      Fall or Spring 2 $500 to 2 students each

      • Must be enrolled full time at Grambling State University and in good standing
      • Must have a cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 grading scale
      Annually 2 (2) $1,000 awards

      • Candidate must have a relative (mother, father, grandparents) who graduated from either Dubach High School or Hopewell High School
      • Must be a freshman
      • If candidate is a first semester freshman, must have a high school GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale
      • Must maintain a cumulative 2.5 during the semester
      • Enrolled full-time at Grambling State University and in good standing
      • Each recipient will be required to attend the Hopewell School Reunion Gala following the initial award.
      Fall and Spring 1 The award is to be presented for the Fall and Spring in the amount of $250 each.

      • Must be in need of financial support for their college tuition and fee
      • Must not receive Pell Grants;
      • Must have, and maintain, a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale
      • Each semester the award is received the recipients will be required write a letter to the donors advising of their progress
      • Recipients will be required to take a Career Direct Assessment
      Fall and Spring 4 $3,000 for (4) students each. The award is to be presented for the Fall $1,500 and Spring in the amount of $1,500.

Scholarship recipients are not allowed to exceed their financial aid cost of attendance. Awards will be reduced or cancelled to prevent an over-award.
