Am I expected to continue coming to work on campus?
Campus-wide administrative operations will function as normally as possible. Please continue to communicate your situational needs with your supervisor.

What if my children need my care at home? Can I work remotely?
Your Human Resources Office has received calls inquiring about teleworking. What is teleworking? Telework is a work arrangement in which some or all work is performed from home or another off-site location. In this ever-changing environment, we are constantly evaluating available resources and what is necessary to meet the goals and objectives of the university. That thought exercise requires us to consider all options; however, at this time, no decision has been made to implement telework. Please continue to communicate your situational needs with your supervisor.

Do I have to take leave? If so, which type of leave is needed in these circumstances?

  • Team members who are sick are expected to stay home. As before, you should submit Sick Leave for the time missed.
  • Team members who are caring for dependent family members (e.g., children, elderly parents, etc.) should submit Sick Leave per updated provisions from the State of Louisiana. Once your Sick Leave has been exhausted, you should use Compensatory Leave to account for your missed time. Should you exhaust your Compensatory Leave, you should then use your Annual Leave. As a reminder, due to the risk of injury, children are not permitted at work.
  • Team members who have underlying health conditions but cannot work remotely should use Sick Leave to account for the missed time. Should you exhaust your Sick Leave, you should then use your Compensatory Leave. Once your Compensatory Leave is exhausted, then you should use your Annual Leave.

Who can I reach out to get answers for other questions? You may reach out to academic deans, academic department heads, university college director, and first-year experience (FYE) faculty.
