Grambling State University to increase security presence after incident on campus
Louisiana State Police investigating shooting incident involving two non-Grambling students
GRAMBLING, La – October 13, 2021 – At approximately 1:08 a.m. Wednesday, October 13, a shots fired incident occurred on campus between two non-GSU students in front of the Favrot Student Union building. Both non-Grambling persons sustained injuries from the incident, one of which resulted in death. An additional unidentified person is also suspected of discharging a weapon into the air at the scene. Two University students received non-life-threatening injuries while leaving the area and were treated at a local hospital. University police were immediately on the scene, and a shelter-in-place order was issued for students via the emergency alert system.
“While Grambling State students were not seriously injured, we certainly offer our condolences to the family of the deceased,” said Grambling State President Rick Gallot. “We are thankful for the hard work done by GSUPD and the support given by the Louisiana State Police.”
