Grambling State University Increases Security After Incident on Campus
Police investigating shooting incident involving non-Grambling student
GRAMBLING, La – August 14, 2020 – At approximately 10 p.m. Thursday, August 13, there was an incident on the campus of Grambling State University that resulted in shots being fired between Pinchback and Douglass Halls. One individual, a non-Grambling student, received non-life-threatening injuries and is recovering at a local hospital. University police were immediately on the scene, and a shelter-in-place order was issued for students via the emergency alert system.
“We are grateful that no students were injured during this incident,” says Grambling State President Rick Gallot. “Campus safety is our first priority. We have taken immediate additional steps to protect our students. These enhanced measures include increased security, access control [mechanisms, stations, check points, etc.], and the immediate implementation of a 10 p.m. curfew until further notice.”
We are thankful to have support from the local law enforcement community, including Grambling City Police, the Lincoln Parrish Sheriff’s Department, and Louisiana State Police.
