From President Gallot: Presumptive cases of COVID-19 reported in South Louisiana
Dear Faculty, Staff & Students,
Our administrative offices are closely monitoring developments concerning COVID-19 coronavirus in order to keep you informed of public safety notices. The University’s recently developed Coronavirus Prevention & Response Task Force has been preparing for a potential threat in our area for several weeks, remaining in constant contact with state & local health officials for guidance.
With presumptive (unconfirmed) cases of the virus reported in South Louisiana, we want to ensure adequate communication and support as the safety of our students and community is our top concern.
Health officials in the state are advising people to:
- Cover your cough,
- Stay home if you are sick,
- Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and water or with hand sanitizer containing at least 60 percent alcohol if soap and water are not available,
- Disinfect frequently touched surfaces,
- Avoid close contact – within 6 feet – of those who are sick.
Please take care to observe these recommendations and stay informed of the most current information on the developing situation by visiting the official website of the www.coronavirus.gov.
Sincerely,
President Rick Gallot
