Grambling State Professor Director of North Louisiana Gospel Fest & Independent Artist Showcase
Saturday, June 15, 2019, Grambling State University professor Santoria Black will lead a weekend of education, entertainment, and networking for up-and-coming gospel artists from North Louisiana.
Gospel Fest 2019, sponsored by the Weekend Praise Party and The Rite Marketing Group, will feature seminars, concert performances, and an independent artist showcase.
“This weekend is a great opportunity for students, community members, and local churches to learn about the gospel industry,” said Black who teaches radio production and sports journalism in the University’s department of mass communication and recently covered the Stellar Awards for The Weekend Praise Party, a weekly syndicated gospel radio show.
Education & Networking
Education events are free for Grambling State University students with a valid student ID. Seminar topics will cover the history and origins of gospel music, gospel music as a business and more.
Artist Showcase
In addition, the winner of the Artists Showcase will qualify for a chance perform at The Rite Marketing Groups National Showcase during Stellar Award week next year, one the largest U.S. events in gospel music; a national single recording deal $500 in travel funds; and a hotel travel card. The winner of the Showcase will also open for the Canton Spirituals July 15 th In Lafayette, Louisiana as a part of the State USAC Church of God in Christ Musical.
