Grambling Part of Louisiana Consortium Awarded $20 Million NSF Grant
Grambling, LA – Grambling State University is a part of a partnership between five Louisiana universities that have been awarded a five-year, $20-million grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to build a national consortium to support advanced manufacturing research.
The Louisiana Board of Regents announced that the grant will be used to establish The Consortium for Innovation in Manufacturing and Materials (CIMM), which will coordinate advanced manufacturing research, education and workforce development across the state of Louisiana.
The Board of Regents said the group’s work will involve improving manufacturing technology through supercomputer modeling. According to the NSF, CIMM will promote faculty training, curriculum reform, and advancement of project-based active learning for students at two- and four-year academic institutions. CIMM activities will provide opportunities to innovate manufacturing approaches through partnerships with industries.
The consortium includes Grambling, Louisiana Tech University, Southern University, Louisiana State University and the University of New Orleans. Louisiana State University will host a shared research lab for the consortium in Baton Rouge.
