By: Henry Williams
The National Association for developmental Education awarded a scholarship to Grambling State University’s own Rudolph Ellis, a graduate student from Belize, Central America majoring in developmental education. His concentration is curriculum and instructional design. Ellis was also given a $1000 stipend to attend a conference upon completion of the program.
Ellis was full of excitement when he found out that he was the winner of the scholarship and who it was in honor of touched him the most.
“Obtaining the Dr. White graduate scholarship from NADE not only provides me with the gratification that I chose the right path in education,” said Ellis. “I am humbled to receive an award that recognizes one of the greatest professors of the University and a pioneer in development education. It feels great to continue along his path to further my education here at Grambling State University.”
This scholarship is in honor of the late Dr. William G. White Jr. He is remembered for his lifetime of hard work and dedication to prepare students to further their ranks in his or hers’ education. White was a former professor at Grambling State University and he had a great influence on the students. Students like Ellis, looked up to him as a role model and mentor. Some Students who were taught by Dr. White, not only became winners of his scholarship award, but active members of NADE as well.
NADE recognizes professionals and students annually at their Conference and there are several awards that are distributed, one being the Dr. William G. White Jr. award.
